‘Songs for Ukraine’ was launched to help support Ukrainian Artists

Royalties Group creates a digital playlist of Ukrainian songs to help gather support for musicians from Ukraine.

CISAC has announced a digital playlist of Ukrainian songs. This initiative encourages people worldwide to support Ukraine. They can listen to and share the playlist everywhere to support Ukrainian creators. The playlist, Songs for Ukraine, was launched last Tuesday. The royalties from the plays it gathers will directly go to artists who have songs on it.

Curator and music authors society in Hungary, Artisjus, created three lists of Ukrainian music on Spotify for this project. These include a 12-hour long list of Ukrainian songs across all genres, another list of local Ukrainian pop music, and the last one, a hip-hop/electronic/rock music playlist.

CISAC President, Bjorn Ulvaeus, lauded the idea as a simple but brilliant scheme to help get the works of Ukrainian creators played worldwide. The ABBA co-founder expressed his desire to see platforms and broadcasters join the campaign and support it as much as possible.

Similar societies like KOMCA from Korea have joined the initiative. They collaborated with major local digital platforms to get the playlists featured on their homepages. Songs for Ukraine is part of a much bigger campaign called Creators for Ukraine. The idea is to get creators worldwide to support creators in Ukraine.

The funds and support will be used to support creators and refugees as well. You can go here to learn more about the project and the playlists.
